RMG/IVF Surgery Center - Electro-Ejaculation (EEJ)

The Reproductive Medicine Group (RMG) has announced that it is introducing its innovative electro-ejaculation (EEJ) treatment to help paraplegic and quadriplegic men, as well as men suffering from multiple sclerosis, realize the dream of having a family. RMG is the only practice in the Tampa Bay area able to offer this treatment, which is performed in their state-of-the-art surgical center.

Candidates for EEJ suffer from ejaculatory dysfunction caused by spinal cord injury, neurological diseases (such as multiple sclerosis), and diabetes. The nerves responsible for telling the body to ejaculate exit the spinal cord and run along the aorta at the back of the abdomen. These nerves are commonly injured during spinal trauma, which causes an inability to attain an erection and ejaculate.

More than 600 spinal cord injuries are documented in Florida annually with an excess of 80% of those injuries occurring in men. EEJ is an out-patient treatment and is performed in RMG's state-of-the-art surgical center adjacent to their North Tampa office. The cutting edge device they use to perform the treatment is the only one currently available in the Tampa Bay area. Once sperm is collected it is tested and specimens are separated and stored. The sperm can be used in an in vitro fertilization procedure with the patient's wife or partner to achieve pregnancy or frozen for later use when the couple is prepared to start a family.
