Hysteroscopy is a surgical technique in which an instrument, similar to a telescope, is
used to inspect the interior of the uterus. It is performed as an outpatient
procedure, usually under intravenous sedation, either in our surgery center or
at the hospital.
The uterine cavity is distended (expanded) using a fluid solution. Most commonly
it is combined with laparoscopy when no evaluation of the uterine cavity has recently
been performed.
